In the past computers where less relieable when it comes to data storage. Today's computers can warn you when hard disc malfunction will occur, thanks to the SMART monitoring technology. But since modern hard drives have more storage capabilities, more information is at stake if a data malfunction occurs. This is when data recovery software utilities comes into play.
